Getting lost in order to be found

The third time’s the charm

In January I returned to my second home, Copal Retreat, in Paamul, Mexico. This place grabbed a hold of my heart upon first meeting in 2017, and I have returned to this slice of paradise once a year ever since (interesting fact: for those who know the story of my tattoo, this is the space from which the inspiration was derived).

Giving me room to breathe a little easier, move a little lighter, heart and arms a little more open; this is a space to reimagine the old, and embrace all the new. I am so grateful for my choice to gift myself with time and space for forward movement.

“Breathe. Take care. Stand still for a minute. What you are looking for might just be looking for you too.” - Cleo Wade

The beauty of this place can be overwhelming at times. The elements conspire and their power is absolutely breathtaking. How regularly do you make the time to pause and calm the mind in order to truly appreciate your surroundings?

It is no secret that few things bring me as much joy as jumping on an airplane to discover something new. Do I travel as a method of escapism? You betcha. Does stepping out of my current situations/routines help me to find clarity? Damn straight. I love to get lost, in order to be found.

“I have been a seeker and still am, but I stopped asking the books and the stars. I started listening to the teaching of my soul” - Rumi

The wonderful humans who joined me on this adventure represented four different countries; spanning 55 years in age. A diverse group of people all showing up for different reasons. Regardless of the events or stories that brought us here, we were all meant to meet at this moment in time. While many of us were strangers at the start of the week, we are now forever connected through growth, laughter, tears... and many margaritas

Kula (noun) - A community of the heart, a group coming together of its own free will. An intentional community, a family.

The group grew incredibly close by sharing meals, sharing space, and sharing breath. Every moment fuelled by fun, fellowship, and hearty giggles. We celebrated the moments shared, and will hold dear the special souls who came into our lives

Whether for a minute, or a lifetime, how can you make the most of the time you have with the people who are here to teach you, challenge you, and love you?

“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” - Mother Teresa

Thank you to Copal and Paamul for always being so magical. My life has been so enriched by your existence.
