Never before has there been such an epidemic of loneliness in our society; a hunger for ways to connect with others in a more meaningful way. For myself, and others I have spoken with, a large challenge faced is how on earth does one make friends as an adult?
If I was to walk up to you on the street and say, “you look nice. Will you play with me?”, you would likely assume I was a creep, imbalanced, or a threat to your safety (but I’m really nice… I swear. Just ask my mom!).
There are so many community organizers already creating amazing events in this city, yet for many of us we are unaware until we see the “proof it happened” on social media. FOMO is real, y’all.
I am in the business of creating connections and cultivating community. It’s one of those things that I do best. So why not put those skills to use in a non-business environment and spread a little more community love to my fantastic city of Saskatoon?
So here is a way that I am attempting to bridge the gap. To get the word out about the cool shit happening around town that may be outside of your normal bubble.
I am thrilled to introduce to you CXN YXE (because apparently, I am too lazy to type out both Connection and Saskatoon): your one-stop source for inclusive* events that are intended to create meaningful conversation, deeper connections, and building new skills. Plus, it is FREE!
*as you can see from my pics, there is not much diversity represented. Which is why I need your help! xo
This weekly email is delivered Monday mornings with a list of what is coming up for the next 7 days. One email. All the info. Delivered directly to you with no need to hunt for it. You can subscribe to get my love notes or submit your own event to be featured. Well heck, why not do both?
So you might be wondering why I am not choosing to do this through social media? Because we need to get off of our damn phones. To stop the endless scrolling on Instagram or swiping on Tinder. To learn the awkward art of introducing yourself to someone new using a warm smile and a hello. It’s scary, but it works (don’t trust me on this… test me!).
I am so grateful for the feedback and support that I have already received in setting this up. I hope you love it as much as I do. Please spread the word if this speaks to you, or you know of someone who would dig it. Let’s go create some magic!
